Substance abuse is considered a disease because it can affect the entire body. It can also be progressive, going from mild to severe. This devastating influence not only affects the body but cripples an individual’s ability to function normally in their lives. Family and friends are also affected by their behavior.

Substance abuse is a choice that sometimes evolves from trying to cope with life; however, the mental, emotional and physical toll can be detrimental. Recovery most often requires a range of treatment approaches involving relapse prevention, diet & nutrition, emotional counselling, behavior modification, self-monitoring, life skills,  strategies to control usage and sometimes the support to enter a rehab treatment centre.

“In therapy, we explore the power of emotional healing and find ways to release the addictive behaviours.”
